International Youth Council – Yemen (IYCY) concluded the activities of the project to support youth and women in the process of peace building and violence and conflicts preventing in Taiz and Marib governorates. The project targeted displaced communities and host communities in Marib and Taiz governorates, and worked to integrate and participate the displaced at various levels, as well as to build social peace, prevent violence and conflicts, and raise awareness of the rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups by empowering and strengthening the role of youth and women in responding to the needs of society and spreading peace and coexistence among them.
It is worth mentioning that this project came as part of the interventions of IYCY in partnership with UN Women, where the activities of the project varied between empowerment of displaced women and sports, recreational and cultural activities, in addition to activities in the field of education, prevention of violence and the involvement of all in the response To cover the needs of the IDPs and the host community. By building capabilities, developing skills and involving more than 150 young men and women and social activists in the project activities matrix, the goal of IYCY is to activate the youth and women group and contribute to reducing the rate of violence and conflicts, raising awareness of the rights of displaced persons and vulnerable groups, and mobilizing various efforts to make more interventions and respond to the needs of the displaced and the host community.
It is noteworthy that the project focused its activities in al-Jafina camp for displaced persons in Marib governorate and in the Al-Masrach district in Taiz governorate.
