International Youth Day 12 August 2018. Sana’a, IYCY. (Empowerment of Youth, Civil Society Organizations and Youth initiatives Event) was the title of the honorary activity held by the International Youth Council – Yemen in collaboration with KAFA organization, Sawaed Foundation for Response & Development, and University of Science and Technology, which coincides with the International Youth Day.The event focused on empowering and building youth and initiatives capacities through leaders of humanitarian work in Yemen who transferred to us their expertise and experience in humanitarian work and explain the most important aspects of society and humanitarian work.
The event was opened by the IYCY’s Chairman, Tariq Hassan, who emphasized the role of youth, youth initiatives and civil society organizations to overcome this era. In addition, He addressed important messages to youth and confirmed on the importance of finding positive spaces for exchanging youth ideas.
The event was attended by Mr. Mujib Al-Fattash, Director General of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. He delivered a speech expressing his happiness to attend this event which is youth-focused. Stressed that the youth are the makers of action, He added. The event was also attended by many civil society organizations, youth initiatives and some key figures in the community.
After that, the Speakers presented their experiences to the youth and outlined their experiences in humanitarian work. They explained and clarified the most important points related to humanitarian work, where they presented various advice for youth in all aspects of community work to launch towards their goals and give them the motivation towards achieving them. As well as serving their communities through the role of technology in the growth of organizations and develop capacities and skills, and values of humanitarian and community work, in addition policies and legislation relating to youth, and empowering youth, and enshrine the concept of sustainable development in Yemen.
In the coming weeks, the event will be followed by four training sessions that aim to effectively empower and build youth’s capacities and help them build relationships and networking between youth initiatives and organizations.
This event comes within the framework of the International Youth Council Yemen (IYCY), with its constant interest in youth empowerment, which is one of the main goals in strengthening the role of youth in community development. The International Youth Council Yemen celebrates this occasion annually in recognition of youth as they are the mainstay of society.
