International Youth Day 12 August 2017. Sana’a , IYCY. (Youth against cholera) was the title of the honorary activity held by the International Youth Council – Yemen today, which coincides with the International Youth Day. The event was a tribute to the efforts of youth initiatives active in the fight against the cholera disease that outbreaks in Yemen nowadays causing a real humanitarian disaster. The event was opened by the Director General Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Assali, who addresses the important and effective role of youth in society, announcing that this activity was held as a celebration and recognition of the efforts that youth deliver for society despite the difficulties and circumstances. He addressed several messages to all young people and stressed the importance of their presence and their prominent role in achieving sustainable development goals. The event was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who expressed his happiness to attend such a youth event and said that he is ready to facilitate and support young people within the possible ways. The event was also attended by several civil society organizations and initiatives that combat the cholera disease and some prominent figures in society. This event comes within the framework of the Council’s interest in empowering youth initiatives which is a key goal in strengthening the role of youth in community development. The Council celebrates annually on this occasion in recognition of youth as the main pillars of society.
