IYCY signed partnership with Earth Day Network

IYCY signed a new partnership agreement with the Earth Day Network.

IYCY signed a new partnership agreement with the Earth Day Network.

On 18th March 2020, International Youth Council – Yemen (IYCY) has officially signed a partnership agreement with Earth Day Network (EDN).

IYCY’s Chairman Mr. Tareq Hassan has indicated that this year Earth Day will mark the 50th anniversary of the world’s largest environmental movement, and the International Youth Council – Yemen (IYCY) a proud partner for this milestone event.

Where Earth Day was officially recognized which is on April 22, 1970 which serves as a way to demonstrate support for a healthy environment, raise awareness about environmental issues and emphasize humanity’s contribution to a sustainable planet. Earth Day Network and The International Youth Council – Yemen share common goals and objectives with regard to conserving, protecting, enhancing and supporting nature and natural resources and contributing to the fight against climate change. Hence, IYCY and Earth Day Network signed a partnership agreement to work together to advance these shared goals.

“At Earth Day Network, the health and safety of volunteers and participants in Earth Day events is our top concern,” Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network, said in a statement, per Inhabitat.com. “Amid the recent outbreak, we encourage people to rise up but to do so safely and responsibly—in many cases, that means using our voices to drive action online rather than in person.”

Earth Day will take a surprising turn this year by relocating to the internet. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, events for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22 will be digital.

IYCY chairman also  said: “We are facing a difficult problem in Yemen due to the poor internet services, nevertheless, the International Youth Council – Yemen will activate the digital Earth Day in Yemen using various digital means and with innovative approaches to create climate change awareness among young women and Yemeni youth”.
