Memorandum Of Understanding Between Rayfan Society for Human Rights and Development in Turkey and International Youth Council- Yemen
A memorandum of Understanding was signed on Tuesday 22 August 2017 at the head-office of International Youth Council- Yemen in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a, the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Rayfan Society for Human Rights and Development in Turkey and the International Youth Council – Yemen Office in the Republic of Yemen aimed at establishing a mechanism for joint action. Cooperation, coordination and development to a wider international horizons towards contributing to the exchange of experiences and raise the awareness of community on the rights of young people, and benefit from the experiences between the two bodies.
Mrs. Mariam Ibrahim, Rayfan’s Board of Directors Chairwoman, said that the signing of the memorandum of understanding was based on the society’s belief that there is an urgent and necessary need to crystallize the collective positions of civil society organizations on the issues and challenges facing their work as well as the development of networking mechanisms. Achieving the goals of sustainable development, as civil society is an essential partner in the development process and has an active role in various fields of social justice.
She pointed out that the society has prioritized the development of cooperation in sustainable development as the human rights fields have evolved over time, so that there is a group of rights called the third generation of rights and it needs the cooperation of everyone, whether internally or internationally, because these rights have a human dimension Such as the right to development, the right to peace, the right to a clean environment and the right to solidarity.
The memorandum of understanding between the two sides comes within the framework of achieving the general interest of development and human rights issues. It consists of eleven articles that constitute a framework for the development of cooperation and the consolidation of mutual coordination between them in respect of the establishment of human rights principles and promoting, promoting and disseminating them. Including the exchange of experience, visits, consultations, publications and studies, organizing training courses and workshops, holding joint events and conferences, and contributing and coordinating in support of various fields.
Under this note, each Party shall, whenever possible, engage the other party in the activities and events of its concern, and the Parties shall consider the possibility of establishing joint and specific projects to promote the objectives of their cooperation in accordance with a time-bound framework.
On the other hand, Mr. Tariq Al-Sharabi, President of the World Youth Council, Yemen Office said that the signing came after a series of meetings which sought to establish joint cooperation to promote awareness of the importance of the culture of development work and awareness of the objectives of sustainable development.
He stressed that Arab youth are an important pillar in building peace and development, according to a UN report. “Youth and the prospects for human development are in fact changing.” About one-third of the region’s population are young people aged 15-29 and another one-third under the age of 15, ensuring that this population momentum will continue for the next two decades at the very least. Partnerships towards the spread of development work and knowledge of the concepts of sustainable development among young people, etc., which requires us to keep pace with this development and unite efforts with civil society organizations working in human rights towards contributing to the development of societies.
Al-Sharabi pointed out that the World Youth Council-Yemen Office is a non-profit, non-profit organization that specifically targets youth and society. It works to spread civic culture through education, health, rights and freedoms, Positive and positive interaction is also interacting with changes at the national, regional and international levels, supporting common human values and achieving equitable integration among peoples.
Al-Sharabi said that the Council, through signing this memorandum, seeks to open up to the experiences of associations in this field and exchange experiences and skills towards contributing to the role of Yemeni youth in working towards achieving the 17 sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations in 2015.
The agreement was signed by the representative of the Coordination Office of the Refan Society for Human Rights and Development in Yemen Mr. Osamah Ali Al-Emad and the Executive Director of the IYCY Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Asali
