IYC-Yemen Tackles Climate Challenges at MENA Climate Week, Raising Concerns about Water & Food Security

The International Youth Council-Yemen (IYC-Yemen) took a proactive stance on climate change by participating in the 2023 “Climate Week in the Middle East and North Africa,” held in Riyadh from October 8-12. This pivotal event served as a prelude to the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai, highlighting pressing regional issues ahead of the global conference.

Key Points:

  • Engineer Tareq Hassan, representing IYC-Yemen, led a crucial dialogue session titled “The Impact of Climate Change on Water and Food Security in the Arab World.”
  • Renowned speakers from across the Arab region joined the discussion, raising stark warnings about the growing threat of food insecurity due to climate-related pressures.
  • The session emphasized the urgent need for robust policy development and swift solutions to manage the escalating climate crisis and its ripple effects on water and food resources.

IYC-Yemen’s active participation in this pre-COP28 forum underscored its commitment to tackling climate challenges in the Arab world. The engaging dialogue on water and food security resonated with participants, leaving a powerful call to action for policymakers and stakeholders across the region.
