IYC-Yemen Champions Food Equality at Second Arab Forum in Beirut

Beirut:

The International Youth Council – Yemen (IYC-Yemen) raised its voice for food equality at the Second Arab Forum for Equality, held in Beirut under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Represented by Engineer Tareq Hassan, IYC-Yemen actively participated in the two-day event, themed “One Voice: Equality in Food Security.”

Key Points:

  • The forum’s central message resonated with IYC-Yemen: true progress in the Arab region hinges on eradicating food inequality.
  • Participants emphasized the collective responsibility to bridge the gap, urging bold reforms across economic, social, and environmental landscapes.
  • Good governance, anti-corruption efforts, and revamped agricultural, production, and trade policies were identified as crucial steps. Additionally, fostering investment in land and water productivity was deemed essential.

Engineer Hassan’s Contribution: He actively engaged in discussions, highlighting specific issues and policies perpetuating food security inequalities.

IYC-Yemen’s participation underscores its commitment to driving positive change and ensuring equal access to nutritious food for all in the Arab world.
