Engineer “Tareq Hassan” participates in the virtual symposium on climate change

The International Youth Council – Yemen, represented by Engineer Tareq Hassan, participated in the “Road to COP28” symposium, on Thursday, August 31, 2023, as part of the preparations for the activities of the twenty-eighth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the COP Conference of the Parties and the International Conference on Youth (COY). Organized by the Arab Youth Network for Sustainable Development, with the participation of a number of environmental activists.

During the symposium, Mr. Hassan discussed the importance of the climate summit, the outcomes of the Paris Agreement, and the pledges made by the countries that signed it, especially the major industrial countries that cause high pollution, which makes them concerned with providing financial aid to developing countries affected by climate change.

He also pointed out the role played by civil society in Yemen, in raising awareness about climate change and environmental issues, to create sufficient awareness among young people in order to make a clear and tangible change, referring at the same time to the ongoing arrangements to hold the Local Youth Conference on Climate Change in Yemen (LCOY).

A number of young experts interested in environmental and climate issues participated in the symposium, including Professor Amina Ben Taleb and Professor Alaa Mustafa, who stressed the importance of the role of youth in addressing climate change, and pointed out that youth are the most affected by these changes and that they have energy and new ideas that can Help solve this problem.
