{"id":490,"date":"2017-07-26T01:41:45","date_gmt":"2017-07-26T01:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iycy.org\/iycy\/?post_type=fw-portfolio&#038;p=490"},"modified":"2021-06-03T21:12:18","modified_gmt":"2021-06-03T18:12:18","slug":"activity-periodic-health-examinations-at-nursing-homes","status":"publish","type":"fw-portfolio","link":"https:\/\/iycy.org\/iycy\/project\/activity-periodic-health-examinations-at-nursing-homes\/","title":{"rendered":"Health and Nutrition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Mission: <\/strong>To build and implement a science-based, comprehensive, integrated and action Health and Nutrition at Yemen level that addresses the whole spectrum of Health and nutrition problems towards attaining the Sustainable \u00a0Development Goals (SDGs)\u00a0 and other Health and nutrition related commitments.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Situation overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to international reports about Yemen, 16.5 million people are currently estimated to lack adequate access to health care. 11.3 million of children in need of humanitarian assistance (estimated) \u00a03 million people are in need of nutrition services \u2013including roughly 2 million acutely malnourished children under 5, in addition to 1 million people at risk of malnutrition who require preventive services.Currently, there is a growing critical need for essential healthcare assistance in all war- affected areas due to the accelerating collapse of health services across the whole country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program scope and strategy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Meeting immediate needs of victims of crisis, natural disasters and civil conflicts<\/li>\n<li>Provision of emergency medical services.<\/li>\n<li>Providing long term health &amp; nutrition services to communities in need by operating clinics and training health workers<\/li>\n<li>Supporting health care- facilities<\/li>\n<li>Incorporating and engaging\u00a0 family and community roles<\/li>\n<li>Deployment of health &amp; nutrition\u00a0 mobile- teams<\/li>\n<li>Providing health and protection Services in areas where no health service-centers exist<\/li>\n<li>Providing life-saving medical treatments for those whose lives are at risks due to illness or spread of diseases<\/li>\n<li>Reducing excess mortality among women and children due to infectious diseases, malnutrition, outbreaks of cholera and acute watery diarrhoea etc.<\/li>\n<li>Aid and assist population-movement with lack of health and nutrition services<\/li>\n<li>Reduce deteriorating nutritional status of the population.<\/li>\n<li>Introducing environmental health<\/li>\n<li>Promoting best practices on child care, the advantages of breastfeeding, hygienic and environmental sanitation,\u00a0 developing preventive healthcare, guidance, education and family planning<\/li>\n<li>Procurement and distribution of basic medicine and supplies, immunization,\u00a0reproductive and maternal health services and commodities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">IYCY is an active member of the health cluster and member of the Health Core Group (HCCG). IYCY implemented several Health and Nutrition projects which were funded by different donors including UNOCHA, Raf Foundation, Marie Stopes and IYCY self-finance. The programs included the provision of integrated health services including the following:<\/p>\n<ol dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Provide primary, secondary health care and referral services through implementation of Minimum Health Service Package, provide operational cost and support to ensure functionality of selected health facilities in priority areas in Yemen.<\/li>\n<li>Prevent and respond to communicable diseases outbreaks including cholera.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting Health Facilities with Medical supplies.<\/li>\n<li>Reproductive Health Component.<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitation Health Facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\" dir=\"ltr\">The goals were to provide live-saving \u00a0integrated health services to those in need and to contribute in the sustainability of the provision of the project services after project end through strengthening the capacities of health care workers in the health facilities and re-build the trust between health service providers and beneficiaries.
